Our History...
The Metal Drum Company is a family business, founded by T.G. Rawle. His daughter is now the majority shareholder and she and her husband are both actively involved in the Company.The family has been engaged in the manufacture of steel drums since the end of World War II. In 1961 the Company bought the engineering workshops of Chilton colliery and set up production lines to manufacture large steel drums. The 11 acre site has 110,000 square feet of covered factory and office accomodation.
In 1966 the Company extended its interests by purchasing a drum manufacturing company in Hull. This factory now makes smaller drums up to 14 inches (355mm) in diameter.
In recent years many companies in the container industry have ceased trading. The Metal Drum Company has flourished and will continue to do so because it is independant, financially self contained, aware of its customers' needs and related production pressures, able to deliver promptly and of a size that allows it to respond to diverse requirements.
